Common glass bottle packaging methods

  1. Glass light bottle

Since there is no secondary processing of glass light bottles, as long as the glass bottles are not damaged during transportation and there is no contamination in the glass bottles, the customer’s requirements can be met. Therefore, the packaging method of glass light bottles is relatively simple. Use ordinary paper grids to separate the glass bottles and package them in ordinary cartons or place the light bottles on PP boards.

  1. Decorated glass bottles

Since glass bottles are generally heavy in weight, the decoration part is easily scratched during production and transportation, so special protection is required. In the early days, most glass bottle manufacturers packaged each glass bottle individually in a PE bag and then placed it in a carton with grids. Currently, canning plants in the European and American markets use a packaging method that removes PE bags. Operators need to spend a lot of time removing PE bags, which greatly affects the work efficiency of the filling plant and increases costs. Therefore, filling manufacturers are not willing to use this packaging method. Since glass manufacturers have different decoration capabilities, some manufacturers have relatively better decoration firmness. After testing, it was found that the packaging method of coated paper grids can also meet the quality requirements. As shown below:

However, the decoration firmness of some glass manufacturers is not very good, and there will be scratches during the transportation test, which cannot meet the quality requirements. After extensive testing, it was found that the packaging method using PE foam grids can meet the quality requirements: the glass will not be broken and the decoration will not be scratched. After testing, glass bottles with decoration packaged in this way can meet quality requirements even when shipped abroad. As shown below:

The test results of packaging (carton + liner + kraft paper tic-tac-toe barrier + large PE bag + plastic film) are shown in the figure. Through the vibration test and high temperature test, the packaging bag skin has no wear. This is also an effective packaging method for decorations that are not very strong. At the same time, it has been shipped to customers many times and no bad problems have been found.

With the above packaging methods, filling plant operators have to manually take out each glass bottle from the box, which greatly reduces work efficiency. For some large-volume products, filling plants will consider investing in automatic bottle loading machines. The above packaging methods cannot meet the requirements.

After testing, the following two packaging methods can meet the requirements:

  1. Insert the decorated glass bottle into the customized plastic tray. When loading bottles, the robot can automatically take out the glass bottles and merge them into the production line. As shown below:
  2. Stack the decorated glass bottles tightly on the PP board. When loading the bottles, the machine will push all the glass bottles on each layer into the bottle unscrambler. As shown below:
